Listening to the MTN Meister podcast with Pete Ripmaster, the winner of the 2018 Iditarod Trail Invitational - which is an ultramarathon in Alaska, where people run for 1,000 miles with a sled strapped to their body at minus 50. His story about falling off the ice while crossing Tatiana river makes you think about all the things that are out of your control up there and can go wrong. If something bad happens you need to think fast, react even faster and be extremely creative.
Also learning about failing gear, that happens quite often. As I’ve been searching for a reliable headlamp for a while now, Pete’s recommendation really brings me peace of mind - in one fell swoop I am on Fenix website ordering the powerful HL60R headlamp. His famous picture with the black anti-freeze tape on his nose and cheeks makes me add one more item to the gear list.
